Why was a buyer’s card declined?

The buyer sees a short message explaining what to try next.

  1. Check details when asked.

An incorrect card number or security code asks the buyer to check it and try again. An expired card asks them to check the date or use another card, and insufficient funds asks for another card.

  2. Try again when the payment failed.

A processing error or incomplete payment asks them to try again. A general decline suggests another card or contacting their bank.

  3. Wait if confirmation is still running.

Your payment is still being confirmed is not a final decline. The buyer should wait for the result or emailed receipt and should not pay again while it is uncertain.

Crafd uses a small set of safe payment messages, rather than displaying Stripe’s internal error text. A maker cannot approve a declined card from the studio.
